About Miriam Deck

Miriam Deck was born in Belleville, Ontario, into a military family, and moved numerous times throughout Canada and the US before settling in Gananoque, Ontario, where her family now resides. Throughout high school she participated in art fundraisers for the school as well as for an organization called International Justice Mission (IJM) that rescues and supports victims of human trafficking. She was awarded the Visual Art Participation Award upon graduation in 2012. Miriam has sold many private paintings across Canada, and continues to receive requests for personal paintings. She attended Algonquin College for 2013, earning a Certificate in Pre-Animation/Illustration, and has earned a Certificate in the Introduction to Fine Arts program also at Algonquin College in 2014. Finally, Miriam pursued interest specifically in sculpture and completed her schooling at Haliburton School of the Arts with a Sculpture Certificate in 2015. Her art has shown at the Algonquin GAS showcases, SAW Gallery’s ‘Sketch’, and the Haliburton School of the Arts "I Made It" Art Showcase.

Miriam married her love, Robert Staal, in 2015 before moving to Ottawa where she plans to continue her dream as a professional artist and eventually start her own Art Gallery.
